Been There, Done That

commentary on many different thoughts

Month: August, 2015

On This Day

On this day in history – 1945 to be exact – the Japanese officially surrendered to the Allied forces and ended the Second World War.

On this spot on the USS Missouri, on 2 September 1945, the surrender papers were signed.  The terms of the surrender itself are well worth reading.

Falling Waters

I’ve always enjoyed this lovely part of the world.

A spell for the refreshment of the spirit.  Enjoy.

Happy Birthday!

To the Best of Friends! May your swash never buckle!

It’s 95 and 95% humidity right now.

Someplace I’d love to re-visit in the summertime or in spring.  It was spectacular enough in winter.

What’s Wrong Here?

What’s wrong with this picture?

Publicity still from a local theatre company’s production of “Mary Poppins”.  Other than the fact that it isn’t Julie Andrews of course. 🙂

I found two glaring errors in costuming and casting.  First, no governess or nanny (don’t remember which Mary Poppins was supposed to be) ever wore white.  Dark grey or black.  If she was daring, maybe navy blue.

Second, any governess or nanny whose posture was so slouched wouldn’t have had a job at all.

Anyone else catch anything more?
